Ilham provides an album that soothes, inspires and is a proud achievement of the Iraqi star

Ilham AL Madfai has been in the business a long time. A veteran guitarist and band player, he left his hometown of Baghdad, leaving his music behind but returned to concentrate on his true love.

"The Voice of Iraq" is a testiment of his commitment to his music and his desire to see his town return to its "beauty" and "being a city of music, clubs and dancing".

The tracks emcompass skillful guitars across the board, hypnotic dance tracks and all garnished with Ilhams stirring voice. The Apple- 'El Tufah' has a distinct jazz piano and flute combination as a side-car of instrumental diversity found on the album. Listeners will also be drawn in my the spanish influences sprinkled across the 14 tracks.

This is a pleasant slice of Mediterranean culture from one of the region's best musicians and live performers. Previously Ilham had met with Paul McCartney and Georgie Fame who gave him musical advice- it's no wonder he got the nickname 'The Baghdad Beatle'.

This album holds power within every guitar strum Ilham delivers and every word he exhales.
