Cortizone Discuss Nu-Metal In All It's Glory.
An interview between Ian Fortnam and Cortizone
So why did both Mint 400 and GOD have to die when they did? Paul-what do you mean by that?
Why did you slaughter both bands to form the single one headed Cortizone monster? Paul-Mint 400 just fizzled out just had it's day so, it was a natural fizzle out and then Andy and I both from mint 400 wanted to form a heavy three piece and that's how that kinda came about.
When did the GOD thing finish? Nick-I don't even know if it has finished! I just left, the whole thing was just like a collection of people. It's not that both bands had to die it's just that it just so happened that way to form this. We were all just at the same place and at the right time.
Was there chemistry there from the first moment you began jamming together? Paul- Yes definitely there was it was just kind of a row but a nice row, we really knew what one another had been doing before, it wasn't like we didn't know what Nick's bass playing was like or anything like that, we'd seen each others bands although we hadn't quite met each other. The sounds were there already.
Nick- When we first did it the first rehearsal it was really good it was just like a jam you know but it was a massive sound, I think it just cut away all the old shackles from all the old bands, we could do exactly what we wanted to do whilst playing and creating this massive sound. Even the guys at the rehearsal room were really excited and were saying what's the name of your band mate? Well we haven't got a name we're doing nothing! They thought it was very Perry Farrel at the time, and as that was just after one jam we were quite encouraged by that so we continued!
So were you sad to see the back of Kane? Was it a name that you were happy to shed or were you standing behind it? Nick- No
Paul- We were forced to change our name.
Nick - We weren't and anyway we were glad to get rid of that name. Bands change name every month and as soon as you have one name you see another and your like oh that's better we'll have that name. But this one we released a single under and it stuck and god there are so many Kanes in the world! We were sort of thinking along the lines of sugar cane, and spanking, and s & m we weren't thinking the bible Kane. Every heavy metal band in the world we found out was suddenly called Kane and it was like good riddance.
Paul- Kane London were quite good though weren't they!
Nick- Kane Birmingham that's what it got like in the end! Kane Glasgow, Kane Northumberland, yeah it was a good job that, Cortizone suits us.
Andy-There was the friend of Kane as well, and there was a reason they were called that wasn't there...
